After an entire century spent in various attempts to unify, the myriad territories of the Italian peninsula have finally concreted. The young Kingdom of Italy is just beginning on the road to modern industrialization. Socialist movements are gaining in power as inequality in the kingdom forces mass migrations. In a bid to assert itself politically, Italy creates itself as a colonial power by annexing a handful of African nations, including Somalia and Libya. Still, Italy is dragged down by the weight of its past, the disunity of its kingdom, and the increasing upset of its working classes. King Woody Battaglia will need to do everything in his power to protect his ancient cultural jewel from becoming a buffet for the other European powers, as the expansionist itch spreads across the continent.
